These ranges come from industry blogs, not from Lee County or a Florida study. Treat them as a rough guide and get a written schedule from your builder.
The phases
- Design and planning. You choose the pool type, size, shape and extras, and the builder prepares plans.
- Permit. The plans go to the permit office. The Lee County guide explains what the application must include.
- Excavation and shell. The hole is dug and the structure is built or set.
- Interior finish. Plaster, vinyl or the fiberglass surface goes in.
- Deck, landscaping and extras. Decking, lighting, screen enclosure and features are added.
- Inspections. The final inspection closes the permit, including the safety feature required by Florida law.

What to ask your builder
- When do you expect to submit the permit, and what is the usual wait at my permit office?
- Which steps could delay the project, such as weather, inspections or equipment lead times?
- What does the contract say if the schedule slips?
Frequently asked questions
Is the build time the same in Florida as elsewhere?
We did not find a Florida-specific study. The ranges below are general industry figures from two blogs. Ask each builder for a written schedule.
Does the permit slow things down?
It can. One industry blog says some municipalities approve within about two weeks while complex cases take several months. Another says planning and permitting usually runs from a week to eight weeks.
